Manar Moursi

Bayt Al Sharq is my first built project. I designed it between 2006 and 2008 and it was built in 2012. The house is located in Qortuba, a quiet residential suburb of Kuwait. The layered privacy requirements for the users of the space: the women, the men's social entertaining quarter and the servants’ quarter - created a challenging programmatic distribution. Courtyards were used not only to bring in light but as an organizational tool to demarcate transitions between different levels of privacy and programmatic zones.
